Majorca Cycling Route 1 – Port de Pollensa (Pollença) to Campos

This Majorca cycling route crosses Majorca from the Northwest to the Southeast; from Pollença, passing through Campanet, Selva, Inca, Sencelles, Algaida, and Llucmajor to finish in Campos.

Duration: 5 hours
Distance: 85 KM
Difficulty: hard
Circular route: no

This well-signposted route starts in the Port of Pollensa (Pollença) in the north of the island on Pollensa Bay which is about 1 hour from Palma by car or bus. When passing Pollensa it might be worth stopping to visit the Convent of the Dominicos with its Gothic Tower and the Calcary of Pollensa, a path of steps that climbs to the Hermite overlooking the town.

The route circumvents the village of Pollensa and follows back roads to Campanet and Selva. Where you’ll be able to enjoy the Campanet Caves, located at Km 39 on the road from Alcudia to Inca.

Turning south at Inca, home to major shoe factories such as Camper and Yanko, the mountains are at cyclist’s backs, and the route continues along back roads that pass through Sencelles, on Wednesdays there is an outdoor market in the village, otherwise you can enjoy the Church of Saint Pere and the Oratory of Saint Joseph.

Continue on the way to Algaida. From Algaida you can go up to Randa which provides spectacular views of central Majorca. Then follow the route to Llucmajor, which has an outdoor market fruit and vegetable market on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and a flea market on Fridays.

And the last stretch leads to Campos, where you’ll enjoy the outdoor market on Saturdays. If after this long route you fancy a swim in the sea, you can ride to Es Trenc Beach, a white sandy beach with crystalline waters that can be reached by starting in Campos and heading towards Ses Salines.
